Easter 2014 (Sermon) This Is Not The End

An Easter morning teaching on the nature of sun rises, the pain and suffering of our community, walking under Paris with the bones of 6 million people, what the cross reveals to us about God, my experiment with painting, why Jesus let Lazarus die, and why none of our stories are finished yet.  Enjoy!

Easter 2014 This Is Not The End

We concluded our Easter service with a powerful pronouncement that our collective suffering, pain and humiliation is not the end of the story, followed by this song.

Easter 2014 Sun Arise

After recognizing the parallels between the pain and suffering of our community and that of Jesus, we sat in darkness until it was announced that at dawn on the first day of the week an angel announced that Jesus was risen.  We welcomed Jesus resurrection news in the same way as the sun rises slowly and gracefully with this song. 

Easter 2014 Say Something

To open our Easter service we announced the death of Jesus by highlighting the darkness that covered the land while he cried out "my god, my god, why have you forsaken me?"  Then we read through cards the Nexus community handed in weeks prior that listed the ways the people of our community feel like they are suffering, in pain, humiliated or dying inside.  It was a recognition of the pain, suffering and darkness inside our community.  The response to those readings was this song, one that I will never listen to again the same way.
